From his village in northern Senegal, 13-year-old Yao is willing to do anything to meet his hero: Seydou Tall, a famous French actor. Invited to Dakar to promote his new book, Seydou is visiting his homeland for the first time. Determined to make his dream come true, Yao runs away from home and journeys 387 kilometers alone to the capital. Moved by the boy’s courage, the actor decides to escape his commitments and take Yao back home himself. But on the dusty, unpredictable roads of Senegal, Seydou soon realizes that by driving the boy back to his village, he is also finding his own roots.
